GREAT comment from YouTube: “…Back in the day neither I nor my friends knew or cared about how many records or cassettes or cds an album sold. We were excited for new music from bands and rappers we liked and formed our own personal relationships with the albums. I would lay in bed and read liner notes in the booklets, excited to see photos and lyrics. The first rap cassette I ever owned was “Resurrection” by Common, which I found on the floor under a chair in summer school. I had no idea how many albums he was selling, I just knew that I found a piece of art and I was excited to get home and explore it.”
