The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Added to Classix 107.9 in Philly

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show returns to the Philadelphia market on Radio One’s Adult R&B Oldies station “Classix 107.9” WPPZ -FM. Smiley completes the lineup that replaces the audience driven “All-Request” music intensive morning show. The station had been jockless in morning drive since the exit of the Russ Parr Morning Show in December 2023.

This marks Rickey Smiley’s third entry of his radio program in Philly. He was previously heard on 107.9 when it was known as Hot 107.9 as a Hip Hop/R&B format from 2011 to 2012. Previously his show aired on Radio One’s 100.3 WRNB in 2020-21 when Smiley was tapped to take over the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

Radio One Philadelphia VP/GM Sean Sams said the addition of The Rickey Smiley Show supports the station’s mission to provide engaging and culturally relevant programming, noting that the show’s blend of humor, information, and distinctive segments makes it a strong match for the Classix 107.9 audience.
