Ebro and the “Ebro in the Morning” crew — Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg — have officially been off Hot 97 after more than a decade in the morning spot. Their show’s been pulled from the lineup, wiped from the website, and the hosts themselves confirmed they’re moving on with a new show “Ebro Laura Rosenberg” show on YouTube. Whether folks loved or didn’t care for them, that show held down NYC hip-hop radio for years, and its exit marks the end of a real era.
Meanwhile, over at 94.7 The Block, things got shifty too. Ed Lover and Miss Jones were quietly cut from the station on the same day as Ebro in the Morning. However Jonesy in the Morning did a farewell show on Tuesday, December 16 where she shared her next move is to devout more time to her appearances on PIX11, her self-produced talk show, more hosting duties on Pink Champs, and a new TV project produced by Holly Robinson Peete.
And that’s where Lord Jamar’s recent comments perfectly show how out of touch some of these so-called “industry voices” really are. He jumped on social media reacting to Ebro’s exit, trying to clown his tenure at Hot 97 while promoting 94.7 The Block — as the perfect place for him along with Funk Flex and Angie Martinez. He encouraged them to join Ed Lover and Miss Jones on The Block. The only issue? (Well you already know…) They’re not there any longer. That kind of mistake doesn’t just show a lack of awareness — it exposes how disconnected people like Lord Jamar are from the actual radio world.
They’re not talking from knowledge, they’re just talking for clicks. And to think… Brand Nubian was a great group.
