Hot 97 Reveals New Station Hosts: They’re From Atlanta & That’s All Anybody Knows

Hot 97 has announced on social media a new group of hosts within a week of the cancellation of Ebro in the Morning.

The iconic New York hip-hop radio brand shared promotional images of Ronndell Smith, Lana Harris, and Million and their social media handles. The post did not say whether they would take over the morning show at Hot 97, which would be a heavy lift in the number one media market on the planet.

What we were able to gather is that Funk Flex literally found the announcement quite amusing and the hosts have roots in Atlanta and not New York City. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

This comes in the midst of Funk Flex saying he would be on the morning show for one day (he actually did four days); and he would take over mornings at Hot in 2029. This announcement is also interesting given the fact that the station owner MediaCo has an agreement with CNZ Communications to provide content to Channel 66 Hot TV that airs only in Atlanta.

So grabbing Atlanta based hosts is perhaps a part of their long term strategic plan for the TV station in Atlanta and not necessarily for the radio broadcast in New York City. (Who knows?)

Funk Flex sharing a laughing emoji reaction on social media, indicating amusement regarding a recent announcement.

Meanwhile Hot 97 Morning Show is currently being held down by Miabelle and the Ebro in the Morning holdovers Shani Kulture, DJ Kast One, and DJ John (Juanyto) minus Funk Flex, who simply isn’t a morning show host.

We’re not sure what the future is for the TRI-STATE of MIND show that seemed to be given a test run on Saturday mornings on Hot 97. But it all is quite interesting as NYC radio is changing, but is its future actually being handled by people tapped in enough for it to remain relevant?
