Reaction to The Netflix Deal with iHeartMedia and Barstool

Netflix has signed two separate but similar exclusive video podcast deals with iHeartMedia and Barstool Sports that will move many of their top shows’ video versions off YouTube and onto Netflix starting in early 2026. Audio-only podcast distribution for these shows will largely remain unchanged on existing podcast platforms. Below Colin Cowherd reacts to the deal. (When we find truly intelligent thoughts on the topic, we will post it here. )

However this is not it:

But this guy may be right.

Quite frankly it is much easier to navigate YouTube on your phone than it is to pull-up Netflix, unless they are willing to change the functionality of the Netflix app to make it mobile device friendly. Perhaps their metrics suggest that people go to YouTube via the app on their television to watch podcasts. (Can viewing habits change? Absolutely!) How do you consume YouTube?

Colin Cowherd is joined by ‘First Things First’ co-host Danny Parkins on this podcast segment. They start off discussing the news that Netflix is entering the podcast game and will have exclusive video access to podcasts like The Breakfast Club, Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take, Spittin’ Chiclets, The Ryen Russillo Show, Joe & Jada, 3 & Out with John Middlekauff, Rory & Mal and more.

Ebro and Rosenberg suggest Netflix will be your cable system.
