Michael Baisden Off the Air in Dallas as Changes Come to the Music at KSOUL 94.5

UPDATED on JULY 27: The NEW FORMAT on 94.5 Click Here

The sweeper says it all: “What the hell is going on at 94.5?”

The DJ’s are gone and the logo is about as generic as you can get at TheSoulofDFW.com.
Radio One Dallas/Ft. Worth Urban AC station KSoul 94.5 (KSOC-FM) is making changes and is tweaking the playlist, but at the present time the station doesn’t sound much different from before. There is still the standard Urban AC mix of music featuring Classic Soul and Today’s R&B.

The Tom Joyner Morning Show still airs in the morning from 5-9am, however they are jockless, including the syndicated Michael Baisden afternoon program the rest of the day. Baisden can’t be pleased that he is off the air in the number 5 radio market even though he is on vacation the next two weeks. But Radio One can’t be happy about not being able to garner at least a 2.0 share overall and trailing KRNB in the ratings.
What can you expect at the new 94.5? Probably just a makeover similar to Radio One’s updated presentation at Majic 102.3 WMMJ in Washington, DC. But what if the station pulled Michael Baisden in favor of say…Skip Murphy and Company in the afternoon? That move would make many listeners happy in the DFW. Let’s see what’s brewing… stay tuned.

This is crazy what were they thinking. So many people have stopped listening to 94.5 because of this. That was the only time I listened to 94.5 now I will take if off my car radio dial.

No Michael Baisden no LISTENERS! It is as simple as that. Everytime there is something positive, productive, inspiring and motivational for African Americans to listen to it is taken off either TV or Radio. WTH!

I'm so unhappy with these changes. Did you even bother to ask your listening public? Michael Baisden and Tom Joyner are the only shows the station had going for themselves. To 94.5 and your producers…you've made a poor decision in changing the station's format people adored. The Michael Baisden show finally gave us something to talk about. I will no longer be listening. It's back to my i-pod!

Plain and simple…I want Michael back. Just as he is getting ready to celebrate his 8th year on air, "oh no". I am a member of MingleCity and enjoy the conversations and issue/debates.

When I initially heard that Skip Murphy was coming back I was really excited. I have really missed Skip and Chris the most, but now that I see Michael Baisdon will be leaving that changes everthing. He was the best thing about 94.5.

I was a Baisden fan but I feel Skip Murphy & Co. will keep me entertained. Baisden was thought provoking & inspired conversation on less discussed issues but I feel it was time for a change. The show was becoming mundane. -MsNYinDallas

Really, are you serious about Michael Baisden and Uncle George leaving? OMG what the hell. The morning show and Michael Baisden show is what keep this station happening. They could have brought Skip and Chris after 6pm not in place of Mike and George.I will not support this move at all. So this is my good byes to 94.5. I'm gone like Mike and George.

Shoot I am happy for you guys. I live in Baltimore. I wish they would pull Baisden off the air here. The little fake radio-pimp with his unfunny sidekick George Willborn or as he should be called George Wackborn!! Tom Joyner is the best thing since sliced bread. Baisden is fake & phoney.

I could CARE LESS about Michael Baisden (I'll miss George for sure) Michael has a bias opinion about just about every issue that is brought up not unless the DR's are on the air. As long as the Tom Joyner Morning Show is still live I'm TOTALLY SATISFIED!!!!!..Good Bye Michael and dont come back ya hear?

This move is so ridiculous. To just assume that the listeners would prefer someone from their past over Michael Baisden without polling them is bad business. How difficult would it have been just to ask?

For every listener that decides not to listen to 94.5 because Michael Baisen is off the air. There are 10 that will now tun into 94.5 because Michael Baisen is off the air, and I am one of the 10.

Listeners – We do not own the stations. We know that there has been a plot to keep us ignorant for a long time. Conspiracies are true this time. They don't want us to talk about voting, abuse or domestic issues in a self healing manner. This is not the first time that they have taken something from us. Cosby Show, Different World plus a few others. They don't want US to be united on anything so that we can continue to be manipulated and used. I'm surprised that they let Michael Maiden on this long. Unity is the key to our success. Buy or own station like O.

You guys are insane if all you were so sold on Michael's show. Why are they pulling a sub 2.0 rating. They have the chance to bring in the most popular urban radio show in Dallas history. This is a great move for them. In the first full ratings book SMAC will triple the best book Michael ever had. Ratings = $ in radio. Tremendous move for that station. If you don't like it don't listen. But as said before for each one of you that go away. There will be 100 SMAC fans that tune in. It's your choice.

Tom Joyner/MS and Michael Baisden/GW were the only reasons I listened to the station. During my drive time or evening outtings, I will now be listening to 105.7, 97.9 and/or 93.3. If something comes up with Tom Joyner I will discontinue listening to it at all. No valid reason for this change and its not based on public demand, so if yall don't care we don't care to listen to your boring station!

umm..here's my 2 cents…i realize tom joyner is a radio icon and has been around a bit… but seriously.. his forced laughter makes me sick…and yall know im tellin the truth…***michael baisden didnt cut it either with his male chauvenistic views…***skip murph & co allday everyday…k104 messed up royally when they destroyed a good show. pls come back skip…

I was extremely disappointed that 94.5 removed the michael baisden show…are you serious? however much I love old school…I trully will not listen to the show in the afternoon, I had to stream it online….Now y'all know the elections are around the corner, with this being a right wing state, am sure they dont want any left wing or independent radio encouraging our people to participate in the elections….

The Michael Baisden show was the only reason I cared to listen to 94.5…Much respect to Tom Joyner, but Michael & George give us "adults" food for thought and an option to rap music all day long. Bring back Michael

I'm glad Michael is gone. He was too biased and his music was not good. I will be happy for the hometown people (Skip, Nanette, Chris, and Sam) to return. I also like the old school mix. We need a station like that in Dallas!

I really liked listening to the MB show and will miss it but I loooooooved the Skip Murphy morning show. They had a chemistry that made my mornings everyday. So if they do come back I will definately listen again but maybe they could mix in some of the topics or style we loved @ MB & George. That could be the Ultimate radio show.

Michael Baisden kept us informed and believed in helping people. Election is coming up and we are going to be treated like mushrooms if you know what I mean. It would have been professional if we the listeners had been given "heads Up". Michael rememberthis could be a "setback for a Setup". Phil 4:13SunShine

Wow!! Sad to hear Michael Baisden is gone. However, it was very bias. Some great topics and some not so great…But please bring Skip Murphy and Company BACK!!!!

The only reason they took him off is because it is close to election time. They do not want him talking about President Obama and his possibility of being president again. You know he did so well the first time.

Nah this is not going to cut it….I'm 110% pissed off! It amazes me that some of these BS shows here in Dallas stay on air(k104 Jade and DeDe Meguire) and a quality radio show that promotes the wellness of blacks and the community like Michael is taken away. NO, thats unacceptable! Bring Mike Baised back or sit and watch Ksoul go under! I won't support this show without Tom Joyner and Baised. (and NO we do not want a Skip Murphey afternoon show, another station has tried that already..IT AIN'T WORK!) GET IT RIGHT KSOUL!!!!!!!

I don't listen to your station any longer. I am strictly XM or mp3 – I really enjoy Michael Baisden and George Wilborn various hot topics. I first was turned on by his coverage of the Jena 6, but the music selection offered during his show and the battle of the sexes were great pick-me-up's. You all really ruined a great thing by taking him off of the air.

Who made the decision to change the format??? I am pretty sure that the number of listeners has dropped tremendously. I used to listen to TJMS in the morning on the way to work and the Michael Baisden show on my way home. Now, I don't even listen anymore. The Baisden show was very informative to the urban community. When it comes to ratings, you have made a big mistake!

I used to listen to MB from the start and participated in most events, it was fun and people were able to call in and make contribution in discussions. After Jenna six when he gained popularity, things changed. Limited calls from audiance, plays more musics than the talk show his known for, always try to talk over callers and same old topics. To me the show is now boring, he needs to come up with new lines.

I especially enjoyed & appreciated during election year but Michael Baisden had become boring to me so I stopped listening a while back. Same ol' bits, same ol' topics, same ol' sucky music – so much left 2B desired. Good riddance. Thanks 94.5 !!!

Man they were stupid for removing Michael Baisdens show. Years from now it will be the dumbest move ever and he will be back in DFW. Skip Murphy is Garbage. Dude has no charisma. to be a jockey, u have to be edgy, skip murphy is not. I used to listen to him on k104 morning show back in day and even when he subbed for tom, he still couldnt cut it. Bring back Michael.

LOL. Michael Baisden is NOT the reason Obama won the Black vote. That's such a stupid comment. Who is the they that shut him up. He is really only looking out for himself. I remember when EVERYTHING was mingle city this and mingle city that. He's a loudmouth that figured out a way to get people to listen to him. He's over. That's my they took him off in New York too.

I sent him a link about the success of three of the Jena Six and haven't heard a word about them on his show. Clearly, he was just an opportunist like the rest of them. It was the SPLC who actually helped these young men and not them.

Michael was the best thing that happened to radio. He speaks about family, love, abuse, our kids, life, real issues that noone else has. He's real and he shows and proves. It's sad real shit about real people does'nt concern some poeple.
