Ice Young, one of the in-studio hosts for CBS Sports Network’s coverage of the NCAA March Madness Men’s Basketball Tournament, just called out Villanova head basketball coach Kevin Willard for his comment about firing his staff during a live courtside time out interview.
“I’m gonna fire my staff.”
Lauren Shehadi: “Not now.”
Willard: “Yeah, I am. Because we’ve given up 8 points on underneath out-of-bounds defense. The only thing I’m gonna do is fire them and get a new staff.“
Ice Young is adamant about that it wasn’t time to make a joke during the game or post game.
Here’s the post game press conference. Willard says he doesn’t care about the backlash for his viral mid game interview where he said he will “fire his staff” for poor play at that point of the game. He then doubles down on the joke as he banters back and forth with the reporters. (So nothing Willard says can be taken seriously…?)
By the way eighth seeded Villanova Wildcats lost to the ninth seeded Utah State Aggies 86-76 in the West Regional opening round game played in San Diego.
