In a wide-ranging interview, Grammy-winning R&B star Jill Scott talks about her new album, the poetry of Nikki Giovanni, and her gratitude for the life she’s built. “Everything has led me to this place, as this 53-year-old woman who is maneuvering her career the way she wants to, how she wants to, when she wants to, for whom she wants to,” she tells co-host Tonya Mosley.
Spring Garden Street is a well kept street, but it’s hardly the grandest street or most expensive area in Philadelphia. The street stretches east from West Philadelphia where it ends and then picks back up near the famous Art Museum and the Rocky Statue. This is the area Jill Scott is probably referring to. But from her perspective as a child from North Philadelphia, it meant success. And for Jill Scott she exceeded more than what she had ever hoped for. (Interview below)
