“After 28 years as the PA announcer for the @sixers I’m officially retiring at the end of the season. I’ve had the best seat in the house announcing for the best fans in the world. Thank you to the players and the 76ers organization. What a privilege it’s been.”
Matt Cord has announced that he will retire as the public-address announcer for the Philadelphia 76ers at the end of the 2025–26 season, bringing an end to a 28-year run with the team. Cord has been the voice fans hear inside the arena since 1998, delivering the team’s player introductions, in-game announcements, and the famous “two minutes” warning during home games. His voice became a familiar part of the game-day experience at the Wells Fargo Center (now the Xfinity Mobile Arena).
During his time with the Sixers, Cord’s booming introductions were heard through multiple eras of the franchise, from the days of Allen Iverson to the current era led by Joel Embiid. While stepping away from his arena role, he will continue his longtime radio career as midday host with 93.3 WMMR. The team has not yet announced who will replace him as the next PA announcer.
