Beginning Monday, March 9, 2026, Sliwa will join current host Larry Mendte for a new weekday program, “Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning,” airing from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The pairing brings together two well-known New York voices. Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels and a longtime talk radio presence, returns to full-time broadcasting following his mayoral campaign. Mendte, a veteran journalist who joined WOR in 2023, continues in mornings with his new co-host.
Sliwa said the decision follows months of encouragement from listeners after the election and called WOR “the best radio station in New York City.” The move also marks a full-circle moment: his first radio appearance came on WOR in 1971 as a teenager.
Mendte described Sliwa as “an iconic New Yorker” and said he looks forward to teaming up each weekday. Program Director Tom Cuddy said the duo’s mix of local knowledge and journalistic experience makes them “the ideal team to wake up New York.”
The show will be executive produced by Natalie Vacca, a 29-year WOR radio veteran.
Sliwa was a host on rival New York talk station 770 WABC before running for the office of Mayor of New York City. He vowed never to return to WABC.
Will never forget when Sliwa told now New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to not to “glaze” him during a debate in October 2025.
