Luther Allison Shines in WBGO Yamaha Concert Series Performance

Luther Allison performs new music as part of WBGO and Yamaha Artist Studios NY concert series. Hosted by 88.3 WBGO “Night Byrds” co-host, Sheila Anderson.

Members of the WBGO Jazz Leadership Society, and other invited guests, gathered at Yamaha Studios NY where pianist Luther S. Allison treated the enthusiastic audience to a magnificent program. He opened the set playing his moving arrangement of Cedar Walton’s tune, “Holy Land.” The Charlotte, North Carolina native is one of the leading voices of his generation known for his blues-based, gospel-inspired playing with deep roots in the tradition of Bebop and soul music. A Grammy-winning pianist Allison has expanded his talents to include acting as he will be seen and heard in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming movie “The Bride.”
