H-Town radio is getting a familiar voice back in a major way. 97.9 The Box has officially announced the return of DJ J-Que to its Morning Drive lineup, starting Monday, January 26. J-Que will step into the lead role on the station’s award-winning morning show, Good Morning H-Town, alongside longtime co-host JMac and rising Houston favorite Young Jas.
For Houston listeners, this is more than a lineup change, it’s a homecoming. J-Que hasn’t held down a Morning Drive slot since 2017, when he helped shape mornings on The Madd Hatta Morning Show. Since then, he’s stayed firmly rooted in the culture, teaming up with radio vet G-Man on The Afternoon Sauce and continuing to sharpen his presence as one of the city’s most adaptable on-air personalities.
“J-Que is a true team player who makes everyone around him better,” said Yonni Rude, Program Director of 97.9 The Box. “His off-the-cuff humor mixed with JMac and Young Jas is like assembling the Avengers of morning radio—built to save H-Town from the grind of the morning commute.”
The move signals a larger push by KBXX to lock in mornings, the most important daypart in radio. With J-Que back in the driver’s seat, Good Morning H-Town aims to deliver the right mix of music, culture, laughs, and real Houston conversation to start the day.
J-Que isn’t just behind the mic he’s part of the station’s backbone. He will continue serving as Assistant Program Director and Music Director for 97.9 The Box, helping shape the sound of the city both on and off air.
Outside the studio, J-Que has built a strong reputation as a tastemaker, influencer, and brand partner, working with high-profile companies that tap into his credibility and connection to the culture. His reach extends beyond radio, bridging music, lifestyle, and brand storytelling in Houston and beyond.
Fans can tap in to Good Morning H-Town weekdays beginning January 26 as J-Que, JMac, and Young Jas bring high energy, authentic voices, and Houston pride to the airwaves.
