Power 99 (WUSL Philadelphia) hosts Mikey Dredd and MuthaKnows have announced their departures from The Rise and Grind Morning Show. The changes come amid recent budget cuts at iHeartMedia, bringing an end to one of the market’s longest-running morning shows. Co-host Roxy Romeo will remain with the company and continue her work voice-tracking for multiple markets nationwide, as well as on stations available exclusively through the iHeart app.
Mikey Dredd has been a fixture at Power 99 for 30 years, getting his start as part of the “The Hot Boyz” night show with Uncle O. MuthaKnows joined the morning show more than 14 years ago, contributing to its long-standing success.
Sources indicate that Power 99 is expected to add The Breakfast Club—hosted by Charlamagne, DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, and Loren Lorosa—to its morning lineup. The move would create a fully syndicated weekday schedule, with “Way Up with Angela Yee” and T-Roy continuing in the midday and afternoon slots. DJ Cosmic Kev will remain on the air hosting the local night show.
