Craig Carton with Tyrone Johnson Venture into Their New Era in Digital Media with Spit-Gate

Two male hosts, Craig Carton and Tyrone Johnson, in a digital studio setting, engaged in an animated discussion during their show.

A highly interesting pairing has come about with the launch of The Craig Carton Show with co-host Tyrone Johnson. It marks the start of a new digital chapter for two radio and television veterans who recently found themselves out of work at their longtime media homes. After parting ways from FS1 and 97.5 The Fanatic, the duo has teamed up to create a digital show that is easily accessible to their fans through YouTube.

Craig Carton, known for his brash style and unmistakable energy, saw his high-profile run at FS1 come to an end earlier this year. Tyrone Johnson, a staple of Philadelphia sports radio at 97.5 The Fanatic, similarly found himself suddenly on the outside looking in after his departure. Both men faced career crossroads at the same moment—making the timing right for this collaboration.

The shared experience of sudden change gave them an opportunity to reinvent themselves on their own terms. Instead of jumping back into traditional corporate radio or TV, they chose a platform where creativity is unrestricted: YouTube. They just couldn’t resist going full HAWK TUAH following the Dak Prescott and Jalen Carter spitting incident just 6 seconds into the opening game of the NFL season between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys.

Both Carton and Johnson are making a bet that their personalities—and the loyalty they’ve built over years on air—will translate to a new medium. While television and radio provided them platforms, YouTube gives them the chance to build a community directly, without middlemen or restrictive formats.
