ROBERT GEORGE – writer, conservative/libertarian blogger and pundit.
George has worked for the Republican National Committee and then-Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Currently, he serves on the editorial staff of the New York Post and blogs for Huffington Post and his own conservative political/cultural website, “Ragged Thots.”
MICAH SIFRY – co-founder of the influential Personal Democracy Forum.
Sifry analyzes the influence of technology on politics for his blog, TechPresident.com.
YVETTE D. CLARK – U.S. Representative for the 11th Congressional District.
Brooklyn native Clark was first elected to Congress in November 2006. Her district includes the communities of Brownsville, Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Flatbush, Windsor Terrace, Borough Park, Sunset Park, Carroll Gardens, Kensington, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and Prospect Park.
“On the surface, the 2012 elections are already a battle of personalities and party conflicts. So far we’ve seen a rotating cast of frontrunners in the Republican race; the unlikely rise of Herman Cain; and a dash of racial intrigue around the possibility – great or small – of two black major party candidates going head-to-head,” said Chideya. “Behind the scenes, both parties are ramping up fundraising efforts, data mining, and getting out the vote. We’re in for a very interesting year, and I look forward to discussing what’s in store with this powerful panel of guests.”
The Greene Space is joined by The Root, the leading online source of news and commentary from an African-American perspective, to co-host the event’s live video webcast. The Root raises the profile of black voices in mainstream media and engages anyone interested in black culture around the world.
