The Starfolk University show is a weekly show hosted by media personality Envy McKee. (Think Oprah's Super Soul Sunday) Happenings in pop and urban culture are not the usual topics, however in light of the recent arrest of Diddy, she is joined by her former co-workers at WPHI when it was known as 100.3 The Beat in Philadelphia. Michael Shawn formerly of DeDe in the Morning and Hot 97's Miss Jones in the Morning is a guest this week on the show. (He's now on Monday mornings on 94.7 The Block in NYC with Jonesy.) Also joining her in this mini-reunion is personality "Fearless" now known as Dr. Aaron Smith who went on to Temple University to earn a doctorate and to become one of the most popular professors on campus in the Department of African American Studies. He also does fill-in on-air hosting on WURD.
It's Dr. Aaron Smith that brings up an interesting thought. He suggests that the indictment, the denial of bail, and the likelihood of many years behind bars, gives Sean Combs an opportunity for redemption.
Most people see this developing story as a way to sling mud at Diddy while anxiously anticipating for the next celebrity to go down with him.
This is a good listen.
In this heated exchange, Marc Lamont Hill goes head-to-head with Chris Todd, the private investigator/journalist behind the controversial Kim Porter memoir. Hill doesn’t hold back, questioning Todd's motives and accusing him of turning Kim’s memory into a cash grab.
