Method Man says the gap between him and the Hot 97 Summer Jam audience is too big. Old heads no longer appeal to younger listeners of hip hop. Meth explained that the “generation gap” in rap had drastically widened, and he no longer feels Summer Jam’s crowd aligns with his songs.
Absolutely disagree with this take, but it's a matter of this IS the current state of the radio landscape. (Say what you want Rosenberg did not make the call on who does and does not make the Summer Jam lineup.)
No matter the show or station, Hip Hop radio is at a crossroads. But also know radio needs seasoned professionals manning the controls in the morning when people are on their way to work.
