Remembering Renee Vaughn of 97.1 QMG – ToshaMakia: “Thank you for every word, every hug, every moment.”

Veteran radio personality Renee Vaughn, a longtime voice on Greensboro’s Adult R&B station 97.1 WQMG, passed away over the weekend.

Vaughn most recently worked as the local producer and on-air host for the nationally syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show, delivering local segments for the station. Her association with WQMG spanned more than two decades, beginning in 2000. During that time, she contributed to local breaks for both Steve Harvey’s program and for the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

A native of Winston-Salem, Vaughn launched her radio career in 1992 at 980 WAAA. After five years there, she moved on to Fayetteville, where she worked at “Foxy 99” WZFX, first as an overnight host and later in the midday slot. She eventually returned to WQMG, where she also held a midday hosting role during her tenure.

Her passing marks the loss of a familiar and enduring voice in North Carolina radio.

Former 102 Jamz on air personality and midday host on 97.1 QMG, Toshamakia of KS 107.5 Denver, sends a heartfelt message:
