An Angry Bill Vargus Speaks Out Against Philadelphia City Council Bill

Former TV Sports anchor and reporter Bill Vargus posted an emotionally charged video of himself in front of Philadelphia City Council last week as he let his feelings be known regarding a proposed bill. Vargus is now semi-retired, an actor and a landlord within the city limits of Philadelphia.

A member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Hall of Fame, who was known as Billy V, worked at radio stations WHAT, WHYY, WDAS, and Q102 and hosted 76ers pre-game and post-game shows when the games were carried on WFIL radio.

In 1997, Billy V accepted the position of weekend sports anchor at Fox 29 after previously working weekends at Channel 10 WCAU-TV and weekdays at the local PBS station WHYY-TV (which began in 1989) and for News 4 WIVB-TV in Buffalo, New York. He is the husband of current Fox 29 weather anchor Sue Serio. Both were hired within weeks of each other in 1997 and met at Channel 12 WHYY-TV years earlier as a part of the former local news program called Delaware Tonight. The beloved Sue Serio has become a morning television institution on Good Day Philadelphia.

That was then…

This is now:

His angst over the bill was directed towards city councilman Nicolas O’Rourke (who was seated near Vargus just out of the frame); whom he called The Oppressor.

Wait. The tenant doesn’t have to pay any rent and can get back what they’ve already paid???

No one ever wants to deal with a crazy tenant!
