News Talk Updates from WURD Radio: Support Independent Black Talk Media

From WURD: Keep it going: Join us this Sunday March 1 to support independent Black media

Thank you to everyone who supported our successful STAND WITH WURD radiothon. Your generosity moves us closer to our ambitious $100,000 goal and sustains independent Black media at a critical moment.

Join us this Sunday, March 1, 1–4 p.m. at Center in the Park, 5818 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, for our Building the Black Agenda Cash Mob. Live broadcast hosted by Solomon Jones, panel discussion, and collective support for WURD, The Philadelphia Tribune, Scoop Media, and more. RSVP for this free event.

Washington underscored the critical role of investigative journalism, explaining how NPR reporters uncovered missing files through court record comparisons.

Tavis Smiley, owner of KBLA in Los Angeles and syndicated radio host on WURD, joined Evening WURDs with Dr. James Peterson. He urged listeners to financially support independent Black media, which face mounting pressure as corporations retreat from DEI commitments and advertising dollars dry up.
